Privacy at sunday44

Your saved place, detailed journal, and preferences stay on your device. If you sign in and link your person, sunday44 syncs check-in dates and streaks so you can keep each other going.

Information stored on your device

The app stores your selected city or location coordinates, city-change count, outside-journal entries, optional durations, weekly goal, reminder time, target UV, and onboarding preferences locally. The sunday44 app and Home Screen widget share the journal and a small forecast snapshot through Apple’s app-group storage on your device. You can delete journal entries in the app. Removing the app deletes its local data, subject to the normal behavior of device backups you control.

Location and forecast services

If you choose current location, sunday44 asks for When In Use location access and uses a coordinate to request local forecast data from Apple Weather. Manual city search uses Apple MapKit and does not require location permission.

Pro includes optional travel updates. sunday44 requests Always location access only after you explicitly turn on Travel updates. The app then uses Apple’s low-power significant-location service to change your saved city after a meaningful move. You can turn this off in the app or revoke location access in iOS Settings.

Your coordinates and location history are not sent to sunday44’s servers or shared with linked friends. The Free plan includes the first city and one later city change. Pro unlocks more city changes and optional travel convenience; location permission and safety information are not sold.

Apple may process information needed to provide WeatherKit, MapKit, location, StoreKit, and notification services under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy. sunday44 does not receive a server-side location history.

Accounts and your pair

Google or Apple verifies your sign-in. Google sign-in requests basic identity only, not access to Gmail, contacts, or files. sunday44 stores the provider’s account identifier, a first name you can edit, hashed session credentials, local check-in dates, time zone, pair membership, invite codes, and shared weekly goal. Your session token is stored in Apple Keychain on this device. The couples service does not store your email address.

For Apple sign-in, the service keeps an encrypted Apple refresh token to check that your sign-in is still valid and revoke access when you delete your account. Your Apple sign-in identifier is stored with your session in this device’s Keychain. sunday44 does not receive your Apple ID password.

Your partner must sign in and join your invite before either of you can see the other’s check-in progress. A pair has two people. Either person can leave. Your city, coordinates, time outside, and UV values are not uploaded to the couples service. Check-ins made offline sync when you next open the app with a connection.

The optional service runs on a dedicated Cloudflare Worker and D1 database. Cloudflare may process standard network information to deliver and secure it. Account and check-in data remain until you delete them in the app. Delete account in Your pair removes your online account, check-ins, pair, sessions, and notification device registrations. Your partner’s own account and private journal remain. Your private journal stays on your device.

If Apple is temporarily unavailable during deletion, an encrypted token-only revocation job may remain for up to seven days so the service can retry. It contains no name, email, account identifier, pair information, or check-in history.

Earlier anonymous friend-code links remain accessible to people who already created them. That older feature stores only random identifiers and summary habit totals and can be deleted separately in its settings.

Notifications

Notifications are optional. The app can schedule at most one daily Sun Window reminder. With a linked Pro pair, an enabled partner alert can say that your person logged today and show their streak. At most one partner alert is sent per day, from 8 AM to 8 PM in your time zone. An optional streak rescue can arrive at 7:30 PM only when an active streak is unlogged, and is skipped after a recent partner alert.

For remote alerts, sunday44 stores your Apple notification device token, time zone, and alert preferences and sends the notification through Apple Push Notification service. Delivery attempts and their status are retained for up to 30 days after expiry. Turn partner alerts or streak reminders off in the app, or revoke all notification permission in iOS Settings.

Purchases

Apple StoreKit processes subscriptions and payment. One active Pro subscription covers its owner and their current linked partner. sunday44 verifies Apple-signed transaction identifiers, the product, expiry, account association, and refund status to manage shared access. It does not receive your full payment-card details. Leaving a pair does not cancel a subscription; manage or cancel it in App Store subscription settings.

No sale, advertising, or cross-app tracking

sunday44 does not sell personal information, show third-party ads, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites. The app does not include a developer analytics SDK.

This website

This is a static website with no advertising or marketing cookies. Cloudflare hosts and secures it and currently adds Cloudflare Web Analytics for basic website performance metrics. Those website metrics do not include your private journal or couples check-ins. Cloudflare may also process standard request information such as an IP address and user agent to deliver and secure the site under Cloudflare’s privacy policy. The app itself does not include a developer analytics SDK.

Your choices

You can use a manually selected city without signing in, decline location and notification permissions, turn off travel updates, delete journal entries, leave a pair, delete your online account, and remove the app. iOS Settings lets you review or revoke system permissions.
